I was born in Japan and currently live in Tokyo. I have lived abroad - in the US and Australia - so I know how hard it is to travel in places where they don't speak your own language.
I study multimedia and have worked in several design companies but now I work at local cafe and food market where I enjoy meeting people from Tokyo and outside. It's a good place to find out many tips on how to live happily in the local area!
My interest in travelling around Japan is mainly to see nature. There are so many mountains and onsen (hot springs) as well as historical places like temples and castles. You will notice the atmosphere, even the air, of those places are quite different from the large cities.
There is so much to see in Tokyo and nearby areas - from fish markets to Japanese festivals in a variety of cities, and so many interesting art events and galleries. I really enjoy helping people explore Tokyo - it can be overwhelming to even the most experienced traveller but it is an exhilarating experience!
Some unique local travel experiences I can help you plan are:
- Visits to local Japanese festivals
- Advice on current art events and gallery exhibitions in Tokyo
- Exploring rural Japan's mountains and Onsen (hot springs)
- Discovering 'old Japan' through visits to historical temples and castles
- Trying the best traditional local food & exploring Tokyo's food markets
- Visit to a beautiful Wasabi farm, star of Japanese film 'Dreams', on high speed train
Ask me about these local experiences and anything else about my area, I'd love to help you plan the perfect trip, locally!
Luke Curwell's traveller feedback
Helpfulness: 5/5 She was really enthusiastic, and answered my questions with lots of practical and useful details. She wasn't afraid to suggest better ideas than the ones that I initially had, and that was cool too. Mika from Tokyo. Big props! read more ...
