About Me

I have a small holiday rental company only for Umbria in Italy and have been living here since 2001. I know the area very well. I have started a website where I keep track of all things to do in Umbria (http://www.todoinumbria.com). This is not a commercial website, but comes from my passion for the region and hoping more visitors will get the right impression, will see how wondeful Umbria can be.

I was born in The Netherlands and went to live in Africa after masters degree. From there I went o Umbria. I studied Italian for one year before my degree and speak Italian fluently.

My biggest pleasure is to share my knowledge of Umbria with visitors to the region so they get to enjoy it most. There is a lot to see and do and it all gets better if visitors are going to the small local events instead of some of the more visible commercial things here. Umbria has a lot to offer and I would like to help visitors discover this and have them return to Umbria or send others.

Umbria is also called the green heart of Italy. Here you can find very old culture (from the Etruscans and Romans to the middle ages and later of course) mixed with beautiful nature. Many small old hilltop villages, nice food, very friendly people and nature. A wonderful combination for a holiday!
