Introducing Todd - your Friend at the other End!

About Me

I've been living in Stockholm, on and off, for the past seven years. I've done various jobs, from washing dishes to teaching English, from selling t-shirts to mowing lawns.

Currently I work as a copywriter and occasionally as a DJ. I live in the city and have a good network of contacts in art, media, design, music, nightlife, etc. I walk a lot and Stockholm is the perfect place to do so. Freelancing helps me to see a lot of the city and having an extended network of contacts means I sometimes get to places that are off the beaten track.

I'm deeply interested in travel and know just how useful it can be to have up-to-date information on your destination. More often than not, someone living there will know what's happening at the time, what sights or activities will interest a specific type of visitor, and also will know if things are now closed which were previously in guide books.

I've experienced the feeling of missing out on things when I'm in a city without a guide or guidebook. This way i can give visitors the benefit of my knowledge of Stockholm and its environs. It makes the travel experience a lot smoother.

Stockholm has just been voted Green Capital 2010 and is a very clean and safe place, for being a capital. In the city, everything is within walking distance (depending how much you like to walk...) but if you prefer to take the underground, all of the stations are studded with public art, some of them particularly outstanding.

There is a very healthy music scene here, as well as a growing art and fashion market. The choice of restaurants is excellent. There are lots of parks, from little greens, to large islands and open spaces. The city, known as the Venice of the north, is built on islands, some of which which spread all the way out into the Baltic Sea and are easily reached by boat. There are cheap bikes for hire during the warmer months, provided by the city council.

During the winter there is a ski slope in the south of the city centre. The locals speak very good English so asking for help or directions is no problem. There are events all year round and plenty to see and do. Stockholm has everything you want from a large city, but on a much more cosy scale.
