My love of this area started when I was very young. My grandmother went to school in Arnside and my family have visited here for years. Studying English I came here as a student and I can remember being fascinated by the tiny kitchen in Wordsworth's Dove Cottage with the stream running under the dairy to keep it cool.
There is a lot more to this area than the majestic scenery and inspiring views, though they are what sculpts the backdrop. I love sharing local stories, quirky insights and helping people to get off the beaten track. It's a great place to chill out, relax, unwind and detox from the hectic life that is the 21st century.
I can help the visitor to discover some of our world-class restaurants, old-fashioned tea rooms or contemporary bars. Then there's our rich literary heritage, including Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter, Arthur Ransome, Melvin Bragg and so many more. How about finding out what the Romans did for Cumbria, the mysteries of the many ancient Stone Circles and ... so much more in this inspiring and magical place ...
I run a personal guide service called The Quirky Traveller, write travel articles, appear on radio & TV and delight in sharing my passion for this magical place with anyone who has the time to enjoy it.
