Introducing Sarah - your Friend at the other End!

About Me

I grew up on a farm in Leicestershire and although I'm a country girl at heart, I have lived in central London for 5 years, where I now work in London's financial district. Having recently completed a Masters degree in international real estate, I now work for a small real estate company that specialises in reviving recession-hit town centres throughout the UK.

I feel very privileged to have experienced living in the heart of London, both as a student and now as a professional. I'm still wowed by the views over Tower Bridge and the skyscrapers of the City on my daily walks across the river to and from work. Apart from beautiful buildings and river views, my favourite things about London are the very beautiful parks - I think nothing can beat an early morning walk through St James' Park or a summer everning roller-skate along the Serpentine in Hyde Park.

During the evenings, I can usually be found meeting friends in the West End for dinner or a glass of wine. I love food and enjoy finding new great places to eat out. One of my favourite things to do in London is just to walk around and take in the sights and views on foot; even after 5 years I still find new streets and quirky places. Surprisingly, London is small enough to walk around in a day or two - without having to use any public transport. I am also a keen member of the London Skate - a sometimes 500-strong group of roller skaters who skate all around the streets of London up to three times a week for around 12 miles to the sound of cheesy disco music - in my opinion, definitely the most fun way to see the sights of London (and for free! - please ask me for more information if you are interested in joining one of the skates).

I love exchanging experiences and knowledge with people from other countries, cultures and backgrounds to me and am very happy to explain what I know about London and the UK to anyone who is interested. I love to experience different cultures and try to have as many adventures as possible both in the UK and abroad. I speak some Spanish, having worked for a non-profit organisation in Costa Rica for several months, at a school in Nicaragua and as an au pair in Spain. I have also twice worked as a "cameleer" (camel handler) in an Aboriginal community in Australia and travelled extensively in South-East Asia in recent years.

I'd be delighted to talk to you about the sights of London or show you some rural walks in Leicestershire.

My Reviews

Feedback from Detlef, Germany

Sarah's hints on London were really helpful, especially the ones about the shopping places were my kids' favourites. And the advice to take a"boris bike" along Regent's Canal was great, too. Unfortunately we had only a few days - an read more ...
