I’m living in Koh Kong at present which is a small but beautiful part of Cambodia near to the border with Thailand, an area known as the Gateway to Cambodia. Here I am building Cambodia's second “Ecolodge” amongst the beautiful jungle and rivers of the Cardamom Mountains. I am a fully qualified Barrister from England with 15 years experience of dealing with people from all walks of life. I have also travelled extensively both with tour operators and independently. My Asian travel includes Thailand, Borneo, Cambodia, Vietnam and India. I am currently studying both written and oral Khmer.
I first came to Cambodia in 2006 for three months during which I did voluntary work collecting data on the fauna of the Botum Sakor National Park, and I fell in love! As a travel expert in my area, I will be able to help you connect local tourism initiatives and volunteer projects. Experience the real Cambodia...
Some unique local experiences I can help you plan are:
- A walk through Tatai village to meet the locals, buy some fruit, and see the water buffalo in the rice paddies
- Volunteering at the local school - playing with the children or paint/clean/improving the school buildings
- Kayaking on the tranquil Kep river in the jungle of the Cardamom mountains to watch hornbills, kingfishers and the occasional monkey, or perhaps just listen to the frogs and gibbons singing
- Mountain biking trips at Chipat community based eco-tourism site in the Cardamom mountains
- A Tuk Tuk trip to Peam Krasop Wildlife sanctuary to see mangrove wildlife such as ugly mudskippers, crabs, water snakes.
- A boat trip out to a fishing village to sample fresh prawns cooked by the villagers and then relax on a beautiful beach covered in shells
Ask me about these local experiences and anything else about my area, I'd love to help you plan your trip!
