Introducing Paula Jutta - your Friend at the other End!

About Me

I'm German and lived in England for 2 years in the early 1980s. Since then I've loved England and London in particular. I always wanted to come back and live here for a while.

In January I bought myself a one way ticket to London and moved to Bloomsbury. The first few months I spent as a Lady of Leisure exploring London on foot. I hardly ever use public transport because it is much more fun to walk around and chat to people. That makes you feel more at home.

In May I started to work as a volunteer for a charity almost next door to where I live. I also organise sightseeing tours for companies, help with German correspondence and translation and provide new resident help.

I'm still in the process of discovery but I suppose with London that will never change. Taking part in the Open Garden Squares Weekend, Festival of Architecture, Open House Weekend, guided walks and cycle tours etc. and talking to people I met during these events made my knowledge about London grow very fast.

I know now a lot about museums, their guided tours, events and late openings, Galleries (the well known and not so well known), theatres (west end and off west end) including pub theatres, where and when to get cheap tickets or free entrance, places where one can relax, have a cup of tea and/or food., how and where to get discounts in shops and restaurants and other useful tips.

London is the place to be for almost everyone. There are museums (well known and not so well known like The Foundling Museum, The Charles Dickens Museum, Sir John Soane's Museum, Hunterian Museum at the Royal College of Surgeons, The Cartoon Museum, etc.), Galleries (the 'must see ones' and many off the beaten track), theatres (west end, off west end, in pubs and open air), music (classic, rock, opera, jazz, pop, folk, in opera houses, concert halls, pubs, bars, clubs, parks, churches, on streets, etc.), markets (food and other stuff), parks (big and small), huge department stores and tiny little specialist shops, neighbourhood shopping areas and high street shopping, cafes, sandwich shops, pubs, fish and chip shops, restaurants and, and and...

Whatever you are looking for, London probably has it and I can save you time and money by helping you find it!
