I am from the UK but emigrated to Australia at the age of 25 where I spent 10 years living and working in Adelaide and Sydney. My profession is public relations, although I'm currently considering a career change, which is partly why I find myself here in Nicaragua exploring new opportunities.
My first visit to Latin America was a three week holiday to Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro in February 2005. I fell in love with the continent and have been back four times. I have been based here since leaving Australia in March 2009.
I have also travelled through India, Nepal, South East Asia, Europe and Australasia, and would love to make it to Africa and the Middle East one day.
Having explored the length and breadth of Latin America from Mexico to Argentina, I have decided that Nicaragua is the place for me. In terms of lifestyle, affordability and the friendliness of the people, it's got the lot.
Even though I spend extended periods of time in my favourite places, I am currently not tied to a particular location, so I am continually meeting new people, discovering new places to go, places to stay, things to do, places to eat, which I love to share with people planning a trip to this amazing country.
As a traveller who now calls Nicaragua home, I believe I can offer visitors the best of both worlds: travel tips and advice from a westerner's perspective about what to bring, how much you can expect to spend, how to get from A to B; as well as sharing insider information only a local would know.
