I am Rebecca. I was born in San Jose, Costa Rica, but we moved to Los Angeles when I was two, so I guess you can say I am a native Angelino. I did my undergrad at UCLA and am currently in grad school at USC and have studied Art, Culture and Communications. I am fluent in Spanish and conversational in French and Italian (although admittedly I don't get to use the last two often so I'm probably rusty!)
I spent the last decade working in the language services industry, helping companies to localize their messages and products for the local marketplace. I have dabbled in travel writing for the last couple of years and it was my inspiration for a career change.
I recently launched a website for parents committed to growing globally-minded children, TheCulturedSeed.com. Our community offers perspectives on parenting, the importance of cultural enrichment as well as a calendar of events for cultural happenings around LA.
Through my writing I aim to share the experience of people, places and cultures of the world in such a way that leaves readers with a sense of wonderment, appreciation and respect; ultimately allowing them to feel connected to others around the world through our basic humanity.
