I am from Sardinia and definitely passionate about it. I was born in Cagliari, in the south of the island. I studied communication in Sassari (in the north) and then Tourism management in Trieste (north of Italy). I lived abroad for a while, in Portugal and in Malta mainly (I like sunny places, tough)!
Strong determination to promote my beautiful island took me back to Cagliari where I work in a consultancy for local administrations specialising in microcredit, business start up and sustainable tourism.
I also take part of a no profit association, MicroPeople, that promotes responsible tourism in Sardinia.
During my studies and work experiences I traveled mostly through Europe. Travelling is one of my favourite hobbies, together with sailing, trekking and tasting good food and wine!
Sardinia is a very unique place, where time is slow and traditions still very strong. If you travel in the small villages few km far from the mass tourism destinations, you might feel time has not passed, especially if you meet a 100 years old man. Sardinia is one of the few places in the world with an high percentage of 100 years people. Could it be fresh air and good food?
Sardinians are creative! There's no place or village that has not something special or unique. Every village is different from the others. It might be the kind of bread or sweets, the artisanal craft (wood, iron, ceramic, leather, carpets, nests, knives or jewels), the typical product (that usually ends up in a local festival), or the surrounding landscape. It's surprising how many different landscapes you can see in an island: sea, countryside, mountain, hills, lake, river. It's not a case Sardinia's tourism slogan is "Almost a continent".
I like getting in touch with nature and Sardinia has much to offer for natural week ends away: I am used to going trekking or sailing whenever I can, or travelling around small villages in the countryside.
Some unique local experiences I can help you plan are:
- archeotrekking and natural photo excursions
- music, food and traditional festivals
- food itineraries
- local development projects
- hidden places
- undiscovered sea spots
Ask me about these experiences and anything else about my area. I'd love to help you plan
your trip!
