About Me

I am a French woman, mother of a single child of 4 years of age and have been living in the village of Abene in Casamance for 12 years, first alternatively in the UK and Senegal, then all year long for the last 4 years.

Before permanently moving to Abene, I lived in London for 10 years working in a charity. I had also founded an arts organisation dedicated to promoting arts from West Africa.
I am now a full resident of the village and have been involved in many educational, cultural and artistic projects.

I am a member of Abene Festival's organisation committee and have been coordinating workshops for music enthusiasts - mainly UK citizens - travelling in the region, in search of teachers, in particular of traditional percussions and dance from Casamance and West Africa.

I myself am an artist, playing dun dun in a Guinean percussion group located in Abene.

Lately I have also been included into the village's administration system, gathering twice a month, to identify and find solution to local issues, and develop the education, environment, hygiene, economy and tourism in the area.

I am passionate about promoting the wonderful local culture of Abene and am waiting to welcome you personally. Alna Niking!
